Chen Jiagang 陈家刚 (born 1962) Chinese Artist.
Chen Jiagang was one of the first photographer who deeply touched me by its engagement. When I discovered China, I was 16 years old, the first step I took in this country will be engraved in my mind for the rest of my life. China is actually attuned to ambivalence, facing life with strength.
The work of Chen Jiagang talk about those mixed feelings. About the weight of history and the complexe future of this empire.
About Third Front:
During the 1960’s, faced with an unstable foreign policy as well as a high demand for ressources, the People’s Republic of China was forced to delocalize most of its heavy industry and armament factories. Originally situated on China’s coasts and in the North East close to the Russian border, these factories were obliged to relocate in the countries heartlands, hidden away and better protected.
So it was that the “Third Line” was created.
