Murakami has being among Artist most desired in the world. Thanks to Sotheby’s, in 2008, one of his work has been sold for $13.5 million. So, very difficult not knowing about him. Of course in the beginning his work was not consider as major, because too much linked to the Manga area; but it is so much than that: It is Superflat movement beginnings.
I had chance to discover his art in Galerie Perrotin (Paris), Fondation Cartier (Paris) and at London, but above all I had the opportunity to saw the Versailles Exhibition in 2010. And yes, his technics is so perfect…
His work is well intragrated in the hip hop and street culture where he is widespread. He has worked in partnership notably with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams (both represented by Galerie Perrotin, Paris).

Superflat is also used as a moniker to describe Murakami’s own artistic style and that of other Japanese artists he has influenced.
